Will I be able to use my current teaching assignment in my internship? What if my current position does not match my certification area(s)?
In order for the internship to count, the teaching assignment MUST match the current certification category in both the grade and subject assignments. For example, someone teaching 4th grade reading could either have Core Subjects with STR EC-6 or ELAR 4-8.
If there is not a full match, then we would have to consider changing teaching assignments or certification categories. Changing the certification category is not always an option as there are rules guiding certification and preparation. The Program Advisor will help his/her candidates to decide what options would be best suited to ensure that the internship can be secured successfully.
