What happens if I need to change my teaching assignment, tied to the intern certificate, over the summer?

It is very important that the teaching assignments are consistent over the course of the internship year.  It becomes quite complex when a change must occur, including the Field Supervisor’s travel, possibly changing the Field Supervisor, changing mentor teachers, the training involved, etc., etc. This is why a consistent assignment was communicated and agreed upon from the hiring district when the Statement of Eligibility (SOE) was initially sent.

We also understand that sometimes a change in assignment is necessary due to student numbers, etc.  Even though candidates are NOT permitted (by Texas Administrative Code) to change districts during the internship, if a district REQUIRES that a teacher move campuses and/or teaching assignments during the internship, it can be permitted.  The new teaching assignment still MUST meet the grade level and subject requirements of the certification category/ies being sought.

ANY TIME that a change is being considered by a district, it would be very important for the candidate to notify his/her field supervisor, the Director of Field Experiences.
